Our History

In 1860 the doors opened to the old brick building at 631 W. Main Street in Historic Madison, Indiana, that now houses The Attic Coffee Mill Cafe.

The restored red brick two story building has a cast iron facade added in 1901 made by the Madison Machine Company. Many of the original store

fixtures and shelves still remain and have been adapted for use to this very day.

TODAY The Attic is over 50 years old and still continues to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere as a place for locals and visitors to experience this historic place where

"nobody leaves a stranger."

We offer in-house artisan roasted coffees from around the world, delicious creations of panini grilled sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, gourmet foods, hand crafted sodas, smoothies, lotus drinks, as well as our wonderful selection of gifts.
We hope you enjoy your time in this

special place as much as we do.

And now, not only can you eat, drink, and shop,

you can sleep as well. In 2024, we will open

the doors, upstairs, to our newly renovated,

Historic Madison Bed and Breakfast!

One of the first businesses to make its home within these friendly confines was T.P. Vincent's Groceries around the year 1930

In 1971 the doors to the Attic were first opened where they did custom framing among many other things.

The Attics most prominent feature,

The Coffee Mill Cafe, was a delicious addition in 1993 featuring Madison's best gourmet coffee, tea, and speciality drinks in addition to a wonderful selection of pies, cakes, and other homemade treats.
